The Mother PAC has endorsed Teresa Alonso Leon — the first Latina immigrant to be elected to Oregon’s House of Representatives — because of her commitment to advocating for all Oregon families, and because we know she’ll continue to fight for the things our families really need.
“I believe that every family deserves an opportunity to bond with a new child and care for a sick relative or loved one. I also believe that caring for one another should not mean sacrificing the ability to keep a job or lose the wages we rely on for housing, food, education, healthcare, and other necessities.
While I personally immigrated to this country with my family, I know that so many of the people living in my district are separated from their families because of their immigration status and live instead with a chosen family.
I respect and value all kinds of familial structures and will advocate for a robust Paid Family and Medical Leave policy that recognizes and supports all families.”
