Who runs Multnomah County next year will decide whether every 3- and 4-year-old gets the preschool they were promised.

Why this forum matters
In August 2026, the Multnomah County Commission voted to delay the tax increase that funds Preschool for All. A program Multnomah County voters passed in 2020 to provide free, high-quality, culturally responsive, and inclusive preschool for every 3- and 4-year-old in the county.

The people we elect this November, including the next Multnomah County Chair and the next Multnomah County Commissioner for District 2, will decide whether this program keeps its promise to every Multnomah County family, or whether it gets defunded, delayed again, or quietly shrunk until it doesn’t deliver what voters approved.

We’re inviting candidates running for races that directly shape Preschool for All’s future:

Multnomah County Chair

  • Shannon Singleton
  • Julia Brim-Edwards
  • Sharon Meiran

Multnomah County Commission, District 2

  • Bri Williams
  • Nathan Ong Norris
  • Serena Cruz
  • Bruce Broussard
  • Herman Greene
  • Nabil Zaghloul
  • Tony Robertson

Confirmed candidates will be announced on this page and on social media as RSVPs come in. We’ll keep updating this list as candidates confirm.

Who’s organizing this forum: The Friends of Preschool for All is a broad coalition of parents, caregivers, early childhood educators, unions, and community organizations working together to defend, strengthen, and build on Multnomah County’s Preschool for All program.
